In a nail-biting finish that could only be described as cinematic, the Niagara-on-the-Lake Sailing Club (NOTLSC) claimed victory at the Shark World Championships on August 21, 2023.

The regatta, held on the picturesque waters of Lake Ontario, saw fierce competition from sailors around the globe. After a week of intense racing, the championship title came down to the final race.

Aboard the “Crunch,” the NOTLSC crew of Josh Wiwcharyk, Chris Clarke, and Alex Letchford engaged in a thrilling duel with a Sarnia-based team. In a heart-stopping finish, the Crunch crossed the line a mere foot ahead of their rivals, securing the coveted World Championship title for Niagara-on-the-Lake.

The victory was a testament to the skill, teamwork, and dedication of the NOTLSC sailors. Their triumph has not only brought glory to the club but also highlighted the vibrant sailing community within Niagara-on-the-Lake.
